Knowledge and Information Sessions

Knowledge and Information Sessions to build awareness of issues faced by youth that adversely affect their ability to thrive in society.  These sessions will inform participants about opportunities that exist to enhance their growth and development. It will also help develop self-awareness and resilience.

Training in Information and Communication Technology (ICTs)

Training in Information and Communication Technology (ICTs) and the use of Social Media which will allow them to use these tools to effectively advocate for themselves and others, and create positive change in their communities in a responsible and ethical manner.

Leadership and Advocacy Training

Leadership and Advocacy Training to promote consensus building and inclusion, facilitate connectedness and build capacity for problem solving, conflict resolution, and team building.

Community Engagement Projects

Community Engagement Projects where participants will apply the knowledge and training gained during the previous year of the project.  Youth will have the opportunity to develop and frame projects within a context but with a youth perspective, approach, and language.

How to Apply

Potential participants must complete and submit the “Youth Speak UP” application form.
The project runs for a period of two (2) years, during which time you’ll be engaged in learning opportunities which only require you to commit a minimum of three hours a week.

Applicants must also submit either a short essay (no more than 250 words) via email – youthspeakuptt@sta.uwi.edu or youthspeakuptt@gmail.com or a short video (no more than 2 minutes) via YouTube or Google Drive link, to support their application. The title of both the essay and the video should contain only the applicant’s name and address. A link to the video should be sent together with the application. The essay should be attached to the application.

Essay/Video Guidelines

The Youth Speak UP project invites youth, resident in Trinidad and Tobago and aged16-29, to submit applications to participate in this training programme. Selected participants must submit the completed Youth Speak UP application form by March15th, 2021.Allapplications must be accompanied by either an essay or a video saying just why you should be selected to participate in the Youth Speak UP programme.
